Day 1: Sacred Valley – Calca to Calangato

Begin your journey in the Sacred Valley, departing from Calca. Travel through the Andean highlands, passing picturesque villages and terraced landscapes. Arrive at Calangato, a remote area that serves as the starting point for the rafting expedition. Set up camp and prepare for the adventure ahead.

 

Day 2: Calangato – San Martin (Gateway to the Megantoni National Reserve)

Embark on your rafting journey down the Yavero River. Navigate through initial rapids and immerse yourself in the surrounding jungle scenery. Reach San Martin, located at the edge of the Megantoni National Reserve, a region rich in biodiversity. Set up camp and explore the area.

 

Days 3 to 6: San Martin – Pongo de Mainique

Continue rafting deeper into the Amazon basin, encountering a mix of challenging rapids and serene stretches. Over these days, experience the transition from Andean landscapes to lush rainforest. On Day 6, arrive at the Pongo de Mainique, a narrow canyon considered one of the most dangerous whitewater passes on the Urubamba River. This area is renowned for its stunning scenery and exceptional biodiversity.

 

Day 7: Pongo de Mainique – Camisea

Navigate through the Pongo de Mainique, marveling at the towering cliffs and powerful rapids. After successfully passing through the canyon, continue downstream to reach Camisea, a settlement in the lower Urubamba region. Set up camp and reflect on the day’s exhilarating experiences.

 

Day 8: Camisea – Ivochote – Cusco

Conclude the rafting portion of the trip and begin the return journey. Travel by land from Camisea to Ivochote, and then continue back to Cusco. Take this time to rest and prepare for the next phase of the adventure.

 

Day 9: Cusco – Machu Picchu

Depart from Cusco and head towards Machu Picchu, one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world. Explore the ancient Incan citadel, learning about its history and significance. Spend the day immersing yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the region.

 

Day 10: Return to Cusco

After a memorable visit to Machu Picchu, travel back to Cusco. Use this time to relax, explore the city, or reflect on the incredible journey from the Andes to the Amazon.

Navigation: Expert guidance in navigating the river system is essential when rafting on the Yavero river, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Camping gear: Prepare for an amazing outdoor adventure with our excellent camping gear! Our spacious double tents offer ample room to relax after a day of exploring, making it feel like a cozy home away from home. Don’t forget our complete kitchen gear, including pots, pans, utensils, and a portable stove, to help you create delicious camp meals that will impress everyone under the stars!

Transportation: Private round trip transportation and support vehicle to and from the beginning of the tour. Train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, shuttle bus to and form Machu Picchu for the two visits. Motor boat from Pongo the Mainique to Ivochote.

A comprehensive first aid kit, which includes bandages, antiseptics, and specialized tools. This kit guarantees safety on your adventures.

Machu Picchu: Prepare for an unforgettable adventure with double entrance tickets! First, explore the iconic sections of Machu Picchu, where the ancient Incan architecture and stunning mountain views will amaze you. Travel Insurance: It is essential to note that travel insurance is mandatory for anyone who wishes to participate in our Yavero tour. Additionally, we highly recommend that you consider purchasing cancellation insurance. This coverage offers peace of mind and extra security for your entire trip, keeping you protected from unexpected situations that could occur.

Gratuities: It is a wonderful way to show your appreciation for the efforts of your guides by leaving a tip that amounts to 10% of the total package price per person. This gesture not only reflects your gratitude for their hard work and dedication but also contributes to enhancing their overall experience as they assist you.

Camping gear: Please note that sleeping pads and sleeping bags are not included in the provided equipment. It is advisable to consider bringing along a sleeping bag that is rated for a comfort temperature range of approximately 10 °C – 50 °F. This will ensure that you remain warm and comfortable during your camping experience, as a properly rated sleeping bag can significantly enhance your quality of sleep while outdoors
